Pictures from June

I haven't blogged anything in a long time but there hasn't been much going on around here. The summer has been pretty calm. We have officially started the swimming season. Abigail loves swimming and we go a couple of times a week. She would stay all day if I would. I never dreamed I would wear a maternity swimsuit, but you have to so something in this heat.

The first picture was the day we got out our inflatable pool out and the water was chilly. We were filling it up so she basically just waded around in the water. Then later we tried out the big pool, you can tell we already applied sunscreen by the glare on her face. I liked the pose too! She is either in the mood to take a picture or not there is not much in between. This particular day she wanted to cooperate. We also had to break down and wash the car and she just decided to sit right down and play in the soapy water bucket and loved it. She was "making" me all sorts of things to eat and drink while I was washing. Her imagination is really on high speed these days it is so funny to just watch her play.

Baby Kirby is getting bigger every day and that means me too unfortunately. Everything is just as normal as it can be and the Dr. appointments are very short. I went last week for the last monthly visit and now I am going to go every two weeks. It doesn't seem like it is that time already. I passed the diabebtes test and we are just moving on from there. The only excitement is that the due date is Sept 7 and Abigail starts preschool Sept 2nd and 4th for the first time. She will go on Tues and Thurs. from 9-12. I am sure it will work out. I already asked the Dr. how does the 5th sound? That is a Friday and I would not be in the hospital when she had to go to school. So if nothing happens I anticipate the birthday being Sept 5th.

Abigail is 3!

We had Abigail's 3rd birthday party on Saturday, April 19th. It was a princess party complete with the princess cake. We just had family members, we haven't really started the invite friends type of party. She had fun and really enjoyed the presents this year. We just ordered pizza and had lunch, cake and presents. The cake was pretty cute for Kroger. The lady that made her cake last year was out of town this week and wasn't available.
This is the only thing she wanted. This Ariel doll that says things when you push her hand. Every time anyone asked her what she wanted for her birthday she told them the Ariel doll and she didn't really want to talk about any other gifts. I guess in her mind she thought she might not get it if she chose another gift to want. Buying her gifts was a challenge this year.

As usual she was asleep about 15 minutes after my parents left. I was too early to really go to bed plus she was sticky and dirty. She did wake up as we were changing her clothes and was really cranky, but managed to stay awake a little while and go to bed early.

Here He Is!

Well if you haven't already heard it is a boy! We are excited but we would have been either way. This is the clearest picture we got so I scanned it in. We do have a picture of the proof that it is a boy, but that just didn't seem appropriate to put on here! This picture is the 4-D ultrasound. The technician gave us a picture of Abigail like this at 19 weeks so I asked her if she would give me one to match. I am sure most of you know this costs $200 and they usually do it much later in the pregnancy so you can get better pictures of fatter babies. I don't care he does look like Abigail did at 19 weeks. We don't do the 4-D ultrasound. Right now he is just a skinny wiggle worm he was stretching and arching his back like crazy. I guess I also want to document that we came home to tell Abigail and after all these weeks of her telling us it is going to be a brother we tell her she is right and all she has to say is "I didn't choose a brother, I want a sister!" This comment pretty much describes her right now. I feel sure if we told her is was a sister she would say the opposite. The threes are definitely more challenging than the twos, or any other age for that matter!

Easter Day

First thing of course was emptying the Easter basket.
With an empty Easter basket she found all the eggs that had been hidden. We managed to do that before leaving for church at 8:30. We all then manages to get desses and head to church on time!
We took pictures after church and had lunch at Grammy and Pop's. It was a full day and I think Abigail went to bed the earliest ever! Not having a nap for three straight days will catch up to you eventually.

Pre-Easter Activities

We celebrated Easter at my parents the weekend before with an Easter basket and bunnies you can decorate.
Then we did the Easter egg hunt with Matthew's parents.
We also died eggs at home that week but I peeled one and Abigail is not interested in eating them. She said "this just smells awful!" She did try one bite though.

First Snow! (that she remembers)

Well, I am so behind on blogging that I had to go back to the snow to catch up. Early March we had about 5-6 inches and so on Saturday morning Abigail couldn't wait to get in it. I didn't have a snow suit or anything that was really waterproof but she could have cared less about that and she didn't seem cold at all. I think she would have stayed out all day. The first thing she did was lay right down in the snow to make a snow angel. She did some sledding on a cardboard box that worked pretty good. She loved it and after she got used to it started holding up her arms when Matthew would push her down the hill. I think Millie might have had more fun than anyone. That crazy dog just wanted us to throw snowballs for her to fetch. The only problem is she couldn't find them when they landed so she would bury her nose in the snow and make a tunnel all over the yard trying to find it.

Happy Valentines Day!

I haven't blogged in such a long time but to be honest nothing much has been going on around here. After a long January around the house we have finally started back to Kindermusik and Bible study. I am really glad, Abigail needs the activity just as much as I need the afternoon nap she takes and the more tired she is the more willing she is to rest. I don't know what has happened to my child who loves to sleep and would ask to go to bed but that doesn't happen much anymore. I have decided it is a battle of the wills so to speak. I think she is boycotting her nap just to see if she could get by with it! I know she still needs one because when she doesn't take one she falls asleep anywhere especially the car. We couldn't get to the stop sign and she was going to sleep everyday. She is too big to carry around Wal-Mart and she is cranky if you wake her up. She is very busy and probablly averages about 10,000 questions a day. She is pretty much potty trained when it comes to pee pee. The other is another blog that I am sure no one would be interested in. To make it short we are wearing pull-ups more than we really need them because you never know when she might go and it is easier to throw away the pull-up. It doesn't help that she will hold it for up to four days. She hears everything we say good or bad and she will tell anything she knows. She is the reason we told about the pregnancy and she already told Matthew on Tuesday what we got him for Valentine's Day. I am going to have to find a way to shop without her! Well that is all the random stuff I know I just wanted to update for myself what is going on right now.
