Happy Valentines Day!

I haven't blogged in such a long time but to be honest nothing much has been going on around here. After a long January around the house we have finally started back to Kindermusik and Bible study. I am really glad, Abigail needs the activity just as much as I need the afternoon nap she takes and the more tired she is the more willing she is to rest. I don't know what has happened to my child who loves to sleep and would ask to go to bed but that doesn't happen much anymore. I have decided it is a battle of the wills so to speak. I think she is boycotting her nap just to see if she could get by with it! I know she still needs one because when she doesn't take one she falls asleep anywhere especially the car. We couldn't get to the stop sign and she was going to sleep everyday. She is too big to carry around Wal-Mart and she is cranky if you wake her up. She is very busy and probablly averages about 10,000 questions a day. She is pretty much potty trained when it comes to pee pee. The other is another blog that I am sure no one would be interested in. To make it short we are wearing pull-ups more than we really need them because you never know when she might go and it is easier to throw away the pull-up. It doesn't help that she will hold it for up to four days. She hears everything we say good or bad and she will tell anything she knows. She is the reason we told about the pregnancy and she already told Matthew on Tuesday what we got him for Valentine's Day. I am going to have to find a way to shop without her! Well that is all the random stuff I know I just wanted to update for myself what is going on right now.

Christmas in Paris

We had fun at Poppa's on Christmas Eve. Abigail got a new kitchenaid mixer to go with her new "dishwasher" (kitchen).

Meme and Paw Paw got her lots of things but the favorite was the Bitty Baby twins and their stroller. She wanted them out of the box immediately and after she played a while we asked her what she was going to name them and she quickly named the girl Dorthy and she had to think a few minutes on the boy and then said Tinman. We haven't watched The Wizard of Oz in months, so the names were surprising.

Santa's Visit

Santa came to our house a couple of nights early because I have been to my grandparents house in Camden, TN every Christmas Eve of my life and I don't want to miss it. They live 2 hours away from Memphis and it is hard to be there for dinner and presents on Christmas Eve and then drive back to Memphis and right now Abigail doesn't get the concept of reading the calendar so we just adjust it a little. Santa brought Abigail the "dishwasher" that she had been asking for and a big girl bed in a new room that she wasn't expecting along with some other smaller toys and some clothes that she could have cared less about. She knew her stocking had been hanging on the mantle to we put it on the doorknob to her new room upstairs and so that was the first thing she noticed was missing and we told her Santa took it to where her presents were. She was excited about everything and wants to play in her "big girl room" all the time. The only catch is she wants someone with her all the time and gets upset when we don't play with her every minute. We left for Paris that afternoon and so she didn't get to sleep in her new bed for a few more nights but when we got home she started napping and sleeping in it and has done very well. She hasn't gotten up once and even stays in her bed until we come get her.

Visiting Santa 2007

Well, I guess I don't have to tell you that this was our worst year yet. Abigail has yet to cry when we visited Santa and I thought since she is older and has things she is actually asking for for Christmas that she might want to talk to him. I was wrong! We waited about an hour in line and she seemed excited about it and told us all the things she wanted to tell him like "I want a dishwasher, twins babies, clothes for them, and everything I need." That is her list for this year, however when it came time to go through with it she didn't want to get near him much less sit on his lap. So we now have the crying santa picture. She did tell us later that she had fun. Go figure. I wanted to scan in the last two years pictures with Santa but it will have to wait until I finish this enormous amount of wrapping that has to get done here before Sunday and Abigail is sleeping now and it is prime time! Christmas 2007

It's not Christmas yet but we have been modeling and photographing the new outfits Grammy made us to wear this Christmas season. With the warm weather we have been having in December it was nice to make pictures outside. It was at least 70 degrees yesterday and today.

Because I am sure everyone has been wondering about Abigail's potty training(ha!) and for my own documentation purposes we are extremely close to being trained and it all started the Monday after Thanksgiving. That day she finally used the potty rather that just sitting there for an hour and I think it just clicked in her head what to do. She does great at home and rarely has accidents, however we haven't really tried using the potty in public so she is still wearing diapers/pull-ups when we leave the house. Also we are Christmas shopping and staying away from home longer than usual so that doesn't exactly help. She is such a creature of habit she can't really go without her particular seat that she uses. It looks like she might be able to go to preschool next fall after all!

Happy Halloween!

We had a fun Halloween this year! That morning we went to Kindermusik and wore our costumes and had a little party after class. Then we came home and took a nap and began to prepare for trick-or-treating that night. We drove over to trick-or-treat at Grammy and Pop's and then we came home and went to a few more houses and then came home to pass out candy and roast hot dogs and have smores in the driveway. Abigail liked trick-or-treating (pushing the doorbell actually) but she really liked putting candy in the other kids buckets. I thought she might not want to "share" but she didn't have any problems and she would tell them"Have a Happy Halloween" as they were leaving!
