Trip to the zoo with friends

At the beginning of July Mandi, Jason, Dianne, Windell, Anna, and Mia came from Paris to go to the zoo her and invited us to go. It was blazing hot that day but we hadn't been to the zoo in a long time so we enjoyed it anyway. I was 7 months pregnant of course so the shaved ice treat we shared was well worth the price.

Looking at the sea lions and polar bears. It is air conditioned in there so we stayed a while!

They were swimming by over and over, it was a good day to see the polar bears.

Mia and Abigail in the butterfly house. Abigail desperately wanted a butterfly to land on her but she just didn't unserstand you had to be really still for this to happen. I was really pretty in there with all the flowers and waterfalls.

Fourth of July 2008

Having fun at the Redbirds game. They had fireworks after the game and Abigail was glad her cousing were able to come play with her for a week.

Guess who was tired and didn't want to hace her picture made so she decided to just pout about it a little. This has a been a little issue since hitting the threes.

Vacation Bible School 2008

We did Vacation Bible School for the first time this year. I helped teach a kindergarten class so Abigail got to go even though she isn't 4 yet. The first day was a little hard on her I think because when I picked her up she said "you left me all along (alone) for a long time" then she asked if Dad was home from work yet as if she had been there all day. It was from 9-12am and she seemed to really enjoy the rest of the week there were no tears from being left and was disappointed when it was over. The bottom picture is from the first say and that is the best she would do for a good picture so I took another one later in the week and you can see she was intertested in the doll stroller and wand more than the picture.

Learning ballet from Little Einsteins

My mom dug my old dance recital costume out and it has now become a favorite in the "dress ups" box as Abigail calls it. This is her arabasque(sp?, should have looked that word up before I started this, too late now). She goes to the right and left. Below is her pirouette. Even Matthew has said she would really enjoy dance classes. I would choose gymnastics and she would like it but she says she wants to take dance. Either way we aren't doing either right now with the baby and preschool starting next week, we are going to use the next few months to get adjusted to all that. Maybe after Christmas we can look into an activity.

Pictures from June

I haven't blogged anything in a long time but there hasn't been much going on around here. The summer has been pretty calm. We have officially started the swimming season. Abigail loves swimming and we go a couple of times a week. She would stay all day if I would. I never dreamed I would wear a maternity swimsuit, but you have to so something in this heat.

The first picture was the day we got out our inflatable pool out and the water was chilly. We were filling it up so she basically just waded around in the water. Then later we tried out the big pool, you can tell we already applied sunscreen by the glare on her face. I liked the pose too! She is either in the mood to take a picture or not there is not much in between. This particular day she wanted to cooperate. We also had to break down and wash the car and she just decided to sit right down and play in the soapy water bucket and loved it. She was "making" me all sorts of things to eat and drink while I was washing. Her imagination is really on high speed these days it is so funny to just watch her play.

Baby Kirby is getting bigger every day and that means me too unfortunately. Everything is just as normal as it can be and the Dr. appointments are very short. I went last week for the last monthly visit and now I am going to go every two weeks. It doesn't seem like it is that time already. I passed the diabebtes test and we are just moving on from there. The only excitement is that the due date is Sept 7 and Abigail starts preschool Sept 2nd and 4th for the first time. She will go on Tues and Thurs. from 9-12. I am sure it will work out. I already asked the Dr. how does the 5th sound? That is a Friday and I would not be in the hospital when she had to go to school. So if nothing happens I anticipate the birthday being Sept 5th.

Abigail is 3!

We had Abigail's 3rd birthday party on Saturday, April 19th. It was a princess party complete with the princess cake. We just had family members, we haven't really started the invite friends type of party. She had fun and really enjoyed the presents this year. We just ordered pizza and had lunch, cake and presents. The cake was pretty cute for Kroger. The lady that made her cake last year was out of town this week and wasn't available.
This is the only thing she wanted. This Ariel doll that says things when you push her hand. Every time anyone asked her what she wanted for her birthday she told them the Ariel doll and she didn't really want to talk about any other gifts. I guess in her mind she thought she might not get it if she chose another gift to want. Buying her gifts was a challenge this year.

As usual she was asleep about 15 minutes after my parents left. I was too early to really go to bed plus she was sticky and dirty. She did wake up as we were changing her clothes and was really cranky, but managed to stay awake a little while and go to bed early.

Here He Is!

Well if you haven't already heard it is a boy! We are excited but we would have been either way. This is the clearest picture we got so I scanned it in. We do have a picture of the proof that it is a boy, but that just didn't seem appropriate to put on here! This picture is the 4-D ultrasound. The technician gave us a picture of Abigail like this at 19 weeks so I asked her if she would give me one to match. I am sure most of you know this costs $200 and they usually do it much later in the pregnancy so you can get better pictures of fatter babies. I don't care he does look like Abigail did at 19 weeks. We don't do the 4-D ultrasound. Right now he is just a skinny wiggle worm he was stretching and arching his back like crazy. I guess I also want to document that we came home to tell Abigail and after all these weeks of her telling us it is going to be a brother we tell her she is right and all she has to say is "I didn't choose a brother, I want a sister!" This comment pretty much describes her right now. I feel sure if we told her is was a sister she would say the opposite. The threes are definitely more challenging than the twos, or any other age for that matter!
