On Saturday afternoon we had a few snacks, cake and presents.

We did have to use the presents as a little leverage to get some pictures with the cake. He loved the cake, just wanted to stick his finger in it instead of sitting and smiling with it!

First thing he opened, a harmonica.

Why do I even waste my energy on nice gifts, because this dollar tree balloon pump was a hit!

The leaf blower was a hit too. He had to take a break from opening presents to work for a while. He loved everything and I am still enjoying his gifts too because they are still keeping him occupied and out of the pantry!

We started out Henry's birthday with toast and candles and celebrated later with his kindermusik class. He also took cupcakes to school the day before and he thought that was fun. The teacher told me the kids are still asking when he is bringing more cupcakes.

He is working hard at showing three fingers. He had it down by the end of the day.

Abigail participated in a 3-day cheer clinic at school and the finale was she got to cheer for the first quarter at the football game Friday night. She had fun and hasn't stopped cheering since.

The turquoise shirt pictures are from registration day where we met Henry's teachers and got to visit and play in his new room. He was a little excited and just didn't want to sit still and cooperate for a picture!

He made himself at home in the reading corner and played in the kitchen.

The navy shirt was his first full day, didn't take any pictures at school because I didn't think it would be a good idea to linger, but he did great!

As a last hoorah before school started, I signed up for an "art camp" which was just one morning from 9-12. I dropped her off and this was her masterpiece when I picked her up! She loved it and wants to go back soon.

June 28, 2011...Abigail learned to swim

This summer Abigail took her first swimming lessons and she did great. She has never been afraid of the water, but just never learned to swim. We meant to last summer, but she had her tonsils out in the middle of the summer and we never joined a pool to really have a place to swim on a regular basis. We went to the Millington YMCA and we loved it, can't wait until next year and both can take lessons!

We joined for the summer at the Millington YMCA and have enjoyed every minute of it! We go two or three times a week and it is great, because we get there when it opens and stay for a picnic lunch and everyone comes home exhausted and takes a great nap or rest( in Abigail's case)!

Henry loves lawnmowers like I have never seen! He is destined to become an engineer because he loves anything he can take apart, or that has a motor, or takes a key. I used to dread when Matthew had to mow on the weekends, because it meant I had to entertain the kids alone on the weekend, but now Henry INSISTS on helping mow and use his own tools! He makes EVERY step Matthew does and he couldn't love it more!

Abigail pulled her first tooth the Saturday after the last day of school (which was the day before). Most of the students had lost some teeth and got to color in their chart for everyone they lost. Abigail was happy the tooth fairy would be coming, but was disappointed that she didn't get to tell everyone at school about it.

Abigail did great at her end of the year program. The whole grade had been practicing and learning songs since right after Christmas and they all did a great job. EVERY student had a speaking part that they memorized and not a single one forgot their words or even appeared to be nervous or shy! I don't think I would have done that in kindergarten!

Abigail and three others fron her class got selected to lead the pledges during chapel for the school. Abigail was the Bible holder and her friend Emmye got to lead the words. It was an honor to get picked and she practiced and was so excited about it! Henry and I went to watch.

They invited the moms to come watch their group time routine at Henry's MDO. He only goes one day a week, but he really seems to enjoy it. It was fun getting to see him at school.

I finally broke down and made the appointment to have our pictures taken. Ironically, I had to cancel the date that we had been planning on for 4 months because it was the weekend Henry had that terrible allergic reaction to penicillin and he was COVERED in red spots! We rescheduled for a few weeks later and Elizabeth Wiggs took them in Arlington at the Depot Square.

We did our usual pony rides while we were waiting to eat fish. This was henry's first year to ride and Abigail was big enough to ride by herself!

We all waited in line to eat and this is the only picture I got while we were eating. You can tell how relaxed our dinner was by Henry in the picture! He wasn't still for a minute!

Right after her 6th birthday she decided she wanted to take off her training wheels and in less than a week, she was riding everywhere! Had we known we would have got her a new, bigger bike for her 6th birthday, but we had no idea she would learn that fast! We are on the hunt for a new bike now! Of course, Henry can't be left out, he is quite the pro on the tricycle and has been for a while!

We even managed to make some pictures before church and turns out it was a good thing we did. When we picked Abigail up from Sunday School she had eaten a cupcake with RED icing and I the whole thing tipped over onto her dress and there was a HUGE red circle on her dress. We were still celebrating on Saturday when my parents came up to visit for Abigail's birthday. We took them to the zoo,of which I have no pictures because chasing Henry at the zoo is hard work!

On Thursday, April 21st Abigail's friend Emmye came home from school with us to play for a little while and then we took them to Incredible Pizza to celebrate her 6th birthday!

Henry had a lingering cough (for a month) and I took him to the Dr just to make sure it wasn't anything ant it turns out his ear was infected so they put him on amoxicillin, which he had taken once before when he was a few months old, and on about day 8 he started to look like this! Luckily it didn't seem to bother him that much, but he looked pitiful and I took him back to the two days in a row to make sure he was ok.

It lasted about a week and I had to cancel a picture appointment that I have had since December, but he was good as new in about a week!

My birthday was Henry's first day of "school." He was excited to go and didn't shed a tear and I will have to say that is was a great birthday present for me too to have a little time to do some things by myself! He is only going one day a week to Advent Presbyterian.

The last two pictures were taken his second day of school with his new Mickey backpack and lunchbox. I bought him a cute small red backpack but realized really quickly we needed the full size with all the blankets, pillow, lunchbox, etc.. he needs to take. This is a first for me because Abigail didn't go to school until she was 3 1/2 and only went 9-12 then. I felt pretty guilty at first, but after seeing how much he misses having Abigail to play with and how much he loves going to play with "the kids" it has worked out great. He even takes a nap there and hasn't been cranky at all!

On Labor Day, we braved the crowds and went to Incredible Pizza at 10:30 in the morning to be the first ones there. We took Meme, Paw Paw, Grammy, Pop and Aunt Lynne with us!

Henry loved Cookie Monster so that was his cake this year.

Abigail had her first spirit day at school. It was an exciting day, the kids got to wear jeans and a school t-shirt. They also attended a pep ralley at the high school. That night was elementary night at the football game, open house and book fair. It was crowded and very HOT but it was fun!

Henry actually wanted to be in the picture when he noticed that I was taking one of Abigail. He walked right over and stood next to her, I couldn't believe it. If I had asked him to be in it, you could forget it. I guess reverse psychology works well with him!

The weather finally cooled off so we could bear being outside. We played outside after Abigail got home from school nearly everyday this week! Abigail liked to come home from school and pick out her own clothes, since I make her take off her uniforms as soon as she gets home.

We took a mini vacation to Holiday World in Santa Clause, Indiana. We did the rides one day and the water park the next. Mandi, Jason and Mia were there too and the kids had a blast. It is a great park and I can't wait to go back.

Our first ride, the train, we all rode together.

Abigail was at just the right height to ride most everything but she also rode the rides for henry's size too. She didn't seem to notice the difference, she loved them all.

Henry would copy the kids on the bigger rides and was holding up his arms like it was a giant roller coaster! He had fun!

At Abigail's 5 year check up the Dr. noticed that one tonsil was very large. he told us to watch it for a while so I did and couldn't quit worrying about to I went on my own to the ENT. He said they needed to come out to a week later we were at the sugery center. Abigail did so good and was such a big girl, she walked on back with the nurse and never skipped a beat. This was before surgery. She has fun talking to all the staff and playing with her toy horse they gave her, she took it with her to surgery.

This was after, she was a little mad when she woke up but did great. She got her first wheelchair ride to the door while Daddy went to get the car. She does look pretty pitiful but by that afterneen she felt like drawing, eating popsicles and watching Winn Dixie!

Abigail had a great time at VBS. Henry did too, but I don't have any pictures of him. I even think staying in the nursery that much might have cured him of crying so much at church. His teachers sais he did well and that he loved the puppet shows and music. Now he calls regular Sunday church Bible school and wants to go rather than starting to cry when we pull in the parking lot.

My friend and college roommate April and her faminy had a graduation to attend in Memphis to they were able to come early and spend the night with us the night before. The kids had a blast. Kiley is 5 months older than Abigail and Colt is 5 months older than Henry. We got them all sugared up with donuts before they had to go.

One last group picture before they left. Henry decided to wear Abigail's pink crocs for the picture. Any shoe left out is fair game to him. He LOVES all shoes!

Abigail's favorite thing is to draw and color. She does it everyday and Henry thinks he is just as big as her and has to be right in the middle of it! It is quite the challenge to let her get all her art supplies out and not let Henry carry them off to write on who knows what.

Doesn't he look so big in that crib? I checked on him and saw this and had to take a picture. He just started sleeping on a pillow and seems to really like it. You can also see him "melmo" there in the edge of the picture. He likes to play with that before he falls asleep.

Abigail played T-ball for the first time this year with Faith Baptist Church. We tried to do some practicing at home before going to the first real practice. Henry likes it too, especially the helmet! He insists on wearing it backwards everytime. They both caught on pretty quickly.

Watching the parade, sort of! Henry did much better than I expected, I only had to run into the street 3 or 4 times to get him. He stayed pretty close.

Always have to ride the ponies that are strategically placed right outside the fish tent where we eat!

I got to ride the slide this year, and Abigail sat in her own lane and not in our lap. She loved it!

A new favorite ride. The caterpillar rollar coaster was there and she rode it 3 times but this might be a new favorite for next year.

We were glad to finally be able to get outside after all the snow! The kids would have played all day.

Henry with his usual bat/stick. He is always carrying around a stick, sword, tree limb, tennis racket, etc...

Has been getting in the car by himself for a while now. It seems like just yesterday that he was wanting to get in and I put him in it and couldn't take my hand off him or he would fall out the bottom. Now he gets in and away he goes!

We love our cardboard, redneck sled, but if we keep getting so much snow I guess we should invest in a sled. We also tried out the lid to a rubbermaid container and it worked good too. It helped that the "snow" we got was mostle ice. Our yard could have literally been an ice skating rink.

Henry loved slidding. He would sit down on the sled and wait got someone to push him down the hill and then would say "again" at the bottom.

Abigail loved sledding too, but ate quite a bit as well.

Henry LOVES to take a bath (or shower)! This is what he does while I am running the water and if he has to get out and Abigail gets to stay in. He gets highly offended if he doesn't get to do EVERYTHING big sister does.

Now, looking back at pictures I have so few to remember this Christmas. This was the most challenging year yet having to help 2 kids open and keep up with who gave what gift. They each want to take the gift out of the box immediately (who would blame them) and it gets kind of hairy keeping everything straight. It was a great Christmas and we have so many things to be thankful for!

Abigail's gifts from Santa (not the kitchen, that was from 2 Christmases ago) All she had asked for was Aqua Sand and a Barbie. I wonder if there were anyother kids on earth that wanted Aqua Sand, but that is all she talked about. She saw a commercial on TV of course that made her want it. Santa found it at Toys R Us thank goodness.

December 20, 2009...Visiting Santa

With Abigail getting sick at the beginning of the week and Henry sick at the end we didn't go to church that Sunday and decided to try to see Santa. We almost missed him because we knew we wouldn't have much time that next week. I called Bass Por Shop and asked when Santa would be there and they told me noon. We got there about 11:45 and stood in the already formed line waiting for him. Luckily we were only about 5th in the line, by the time Santa came the line was out the door! Henry of course wasn't a fan of Santa and Abigail did great this year. She does say that she only likes him at Bass Pro and NOT the mall. The were moving the line through and taking pictures quickly and in the car she noticed she hadn't told him what she wanted for Christmas. We assured her that he knew already and ir would be fine.

Just a few pictures from Abigail's Christmas party at school. She almost didn't get to go because she had been running a fever the day before, but seemed fine that morning so we went. Henry, however was getting what she had and didn't feel well at all. I ended up with him at the Dr the next day and he tested positive for the flu. Matthew, Henry and I all started taking Tamiflu. Henry definitely had the worst case, he felt pretty bad for several days and He and I missed Abigail's Christmas program, matthews Christmas party, and my cookie swap later that week.

Abigail had the Harvest party at school and dressed as a farmer. They usually have a petting zoo come but the rain postponed it until later in the year. They had fun anyway with all the sweets and gamed inside.

We went to a Halloween activity at the agricenter this year. Just a couple of pictures before we went.
